And the winners (and losers) are…
Itʼs awards season as you know and theyʼre coming thick and fast with last nightʼs SAGs being the latest (I know it sounds like something youʼd fix with implants or botox but it stands for Screen Actors Guild Awards). It was held in LA, and billed as the ceremony for the actors by the actors. Very nice!
So you know us – whereʼs thereʼs an awards ceremony, thereʼs an Internaçionale blogger ready to run the rule over the stylish and the not so!
We saw Meryl Streep looking gorgeous in Vivienne Westwood. Brad and Angelina looked fab (Angelina went for a slinky, sexy design from Jenny Packham). Stacy Keebler in Marchesa, and Tilda Swinton in a one-off design by Lanvin both looked gorge!
Emma Stone is our favourite though, looking fabulous in Alexander McQueen. We especially loved the way she funked it up with a gold knuckle-duster also by McQueen.
Some of the outfits we weren’t so sure about include Shailene Woodley in L’Wren Scott and Emilia Clarke in Chanel Couture, but that’s just us, by all means tell us what you think on Facebook.

Hollywood’s Magnificent 7

Wednesday, January 25th, 2012

With yesterday’s Oscar nominations still hot off the press, we’re taking a trip down memory lane to look at some of the world’s most iconic women and how they’ve influenced our fashion tastes over the years…

Screen Shot 2012-01-25 at 19.36.48

Grace Kelly won a best actress Oscar in 1954 for The Country Girl, and has since been a Hollywood icon who’s name we associate with elegance and beauty.

Or perhaps the impish Audrey Hepburn is more your style – and who could blame you?! Timeless,

simple, classic – no one did it like Audery. Still one of the most revered fashion icons to this day, designers like Posh Spice often look to her for inspiration. Surely every girl has a little Audrey Hepburn inside her. Do you?

Forever gorgeous, the original sex kitten with the bee stung lips, Bridgette Bardot was a model, actress and singer. Although she was far bigger in her native France than Hollywood, she still registers as a legend who operated by a very simple motto: if you’ve got it, flaunt it.

The word siren was invented for Sophia Loren. She brought to Hollywood a vivaciousness and flair that only a true stylish Italian femme fatale could. Bold, demanding, luscious and curvy, the woman had it all!

Screen Shot 2012-01-25 at 19.27.11

One of the greatest film stars of all time, Elizabeth Taylor was probably best known for two things; her role as Cleopatra in the 1963 film and her eight marriages to seven different men. With style likes hers, who can blame the men for forming a queue?!

Screen Shot 2012-01-25 at 19.27.19

Moving a little more up to date… Meryl Streep has recently starred in the Iron Lady, so will that make us want to dress like Margaret Thatcher? We all love a strong women so we can expect a deluge of features on ‘how to get the Thatcher look’. Hmm, let’s hope not!

Screen Shot 2012-01-25 at 19.27.28

And last but by no means least, we love the graceful and poised Gwyneth Paltrow, a New Yorker who has emerged as an admired style icon and portrait of the cool, modern woman who has it all. Her style is very understated but classic. We may be a little jealous, and Gywneth can seem a little too proud of herself at times – but then again wouldn’t you be with a successful career, beautiful family and rock star husband?!

Fashion fitness

If you’re the sort of girl who (like me!) gets out of breath by simply walking up the stairs, then you’ve probably emerged from the Christmas feeding season feeling a little guilty but on the whole, full of good intentions and brimming with positivity. You’re probably promising yourself that this year will be different. This year WE WILL DO IT – we WILL join the gym to get fit (and not just to use that wasted membership as a guilt trip). This time it’s for keeps!!!
Well, as soon as we get ourselves kitted out in new ‘work out’ clothes that is (it may just be the gym but eekkkk! you never know who you’ll bump into)!
Look good, feel good they say, so here are some get fit fashion tips that might make those hard yards a little more fun…
Colour blocking looks great on comfy casuals. Neons and metallics are always good, and the hoodie is an absolute must (perfect for hiding away pre and post gym session). Gym bag? Any oversized shopper style bag will look cool, and teamed with your oversized shades you’ll have that ‘celeb emerging from a workout’ look down to a tee!! Oh and don’t forget your wottle (yes wottle)!! It’s your re useable water bottle and even Marc Jacobs has a designer range in them so going to the gym must be truly cool!
So girls, what are we waiting for? Let’s hit… the shops :) xx

Who won the style awards at this year’s Golden Globes?

Wednesday, January 18th, 2012
The 2012 Golden Globes saw many beautiful women in
beautiful gowns. There were lots in bold colours, and we
loved Angelina Jolie’s flash of crimson red against satiny
white with red clutch and red lippy.
Kate Beckinsdale looked stunning and very natural in a
Roberto Cavalli fleshy tone with hair pulled back, and
Claire Danes sported the classic monochrome look with a
low cut back.
Tilda Swinton wore a light blue gown with jacket, and
looked like she’d just stepped off the runway – a very
‘now’ look!
Michelle Williams and Charlize Theron also looked ‘on
trend’, sporting headbands. But for us the best dressed of
all would have to be Emma Stone in Lanvin…
Outfits we weren’t so sure about would be Evan Rachael Wood in a Gucci
sequined dress with real feathers at the bottom in a weird kind of mermaid,
peacock fashion. And lastly Madonna, her dress looking a little too busy for
our liking and we’re not sure about the ‘like a virgin’ single glove? Come on
Madge, it’s not 1985 any more!!
But enough from us, what do you
think? Did you see ‘The Globes’? And
who was your award winning style icon
for the night?
